Musings of a Mommy

So, countdown to the beach – T minus 11 days and counting. Well, that’s only the first leg of the trip. We’re spending the night in Columbia and then going to the beach on the 14th. Yes, we are traveling on Friday the 13th! Get out the Ouija board and contact the spirits!

So if you know me, you know I am ridiculously organized. I am anal about it. So, I make lists. I am a listmaker. My name is April and I am a listmaker. Anyway, I love lists. I love the feeling of completing something and getting to cross it off the list. Therefore, when I travel, I make lists to make sure I don’t forget anything and it has really helped me out in the past. Well, you know all the shit you travel with to the beach for a week? Well, multiply that by two and a half. That’s what Matt and I would take. Multiply that by 2, that’s with Matt, Mom and me. Now, multiply that number by pi. That is approximately the amount of shit we will be traveling with to the beach. And, to top it off, we are staying in a house and we have to bring our own linens, towels, beach chairs, beach towels, etc, etc, etc. I’m starting to doubt the van will be able to travel. We probably should have just rented a U-Haul to travel down there. So, I am in the process of making a list for the whole family and it got to be so extensive and long, I quit for the night. That’s how bad it is.

Lexie Leigh is doing so well with her sleeping. We no longer rock her and there is really no crying anymore. (Now that I’m posting that, she will proceed to scream tomorrow for hours.) She’s still not sleeping through the night on a regular basis but she has been sleeping until 5ish and then we put her passy in and she’ll sleep until 6ish. So, not horrible – actually, pretty great compared to what she was doing. When we get back from our vacation, I’m going to see if I can get her to sleep just a tad longer. I would really appreciate her sleeping until 6:30-7. That would be awesome.

Lexie’s social life has really been taking off lately. All of her friends are older than her and are turning 1. We’ve been to 5 birthday parties in the last month. But, they are so adorable.  We are throwing a playgroup/birthday party for Lexie July 25th and then having her family/grownup friends birthday party on the 28th. She’s totally going to be partied out and really believe that all presents, balloons, cake, cupcakes, toys, etc. are hers. Well, honestly – she already thinks that.

I have a MNO (Mom’s Night Out) tomorrow night. We’re going to Rincon, well technically it’s called La Hacienda Pequena but it used to be called Rincon, for 2 for 1 margaritas. Woo hoo! I love me some margaritas, especially when one is essentially free. Plus, we always have good conversation and lots of laughs when we go so I’m really excited. We’ve started going about every other week and I live for it. And, I’m hosting my first MNO Saturday night. The girls are coming over to lay by the pool and drink Cosmos. Yum! And, since I’m hosting, I’m not supposed to make any food or anything (but of course I will).

I went to my first Cincinnati Reds game last Saturday. So much fun! I really want to go back again. I can’t believe I’ve lived so close my entire life and have never gone. I mean, I’m not a huge baseball fan but still – it’s the all American sport. Ya gotta go, yell obscenities, eat peanuts and drink a $6 beer – but only one because jeesh – $6 for a beer???

Well, folks – it’s that time – my bedtime. Yessir, it’s 10 o’clock and I’m dreaming of my bed. Parenthood is so blissful. *rolling of the eyes*
